To accelerate sustainability and drive innovation, Basck announced today that they will fund 100 new patent applications for exceptional early stage sustainability-focused entrepreneurs.
The “100 Heroes to Carbon Zero (H2CZ)” is a startup programme designed for early stage entrepreneurs. FREE patent applications will be offered to up to 100 startups who have innovated in two areas of 17 Sustainable Development Goals, namely:
- No. 9 Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure;
- No. 13 Climate action.
“Basck could have just done some offsetting and made noise about going net zero. Instead they are utilising their biggest area of influence and potential impact which is supporting innovation in sustainability through their free patent application offer in their 100 Heroes to Carbon Zero. It’s an amazing commitment, and one capable of accelerating impactful ideas into being which we all desperately need.”
Dr Nicky Dee, Chief Sustainability and Innovation Officer, Carbon13
The first round of applications closes on 30 June 2021. The next round will be announced in Q3 2021. You can apply and learn more about the programme through their dedicated website: www.basck.com/h2cz
The programme is aimed at the early stage entrepreneurs who might find themselves in a “catch 22” situation; looking for investments to protect their innovation but being unable to receive it because their product is not protected with intellectual property rights. The H2CZ programme looks to provide a solution to this problem and promote innovation.
“Startups are arguably the fastest driver of innovation. By being nimble and agile they create an environment that fosters innovation. Patent ownership allows them to take charge of their technology roll-out and move fast. What the planet needs now is speed.”
Natalia Korek, Managing Director of Basck
