Christian is the CEO and founder of the Basck Group, leading operations in the United Kingdom, Poland, Sweden and India. Christian started his career as a patent attorney in Sweden, moving into start-ups and higher management positions at CPA Global and CVON, where he was involved in building and commercialising patent portfolios. Christian is one of the top 300 IP Strategists globally, European Trade Mark and Design Attorney, has a Mechanical Engineering degree from University of South Australia and an MBA from University of Cambridge.

Dr Marcelo Motta lead projects involving Intellectual Property strategy, technology roadmaps and IP valuation at Basck. Dr Motta also mentors start-ups and scale-ups in accelerator programmes, including ad-hoc consulting for the European Innovation Council (EIC) on business and IP strategy. Previously, he worked as technology manager in the Chemical Industry and as an academic researcher at the University of Cambridge. Dr Motta is a European Patent attorney and an EU Trade Mark and Design attorney. He has a PhD in Materials Science and an Executive MBA, part of a Chevening fellowship programme led by London Business School.

Govind leads the New Delhi office with a team of patent attorneys, patent engineers, paralegal and IP management specialists. Govind has experience in projects involving IP landscape and management, competitor analysis and technology roadmapping. He has previously worked for CPA Global, providing IP support services, heading teams of IP professionals and specialists.

Richard is an IP Consultant and specialist Intellectual Property lawyer. Richard holds a masters degree in Intellectual Property and Information Law from King’s College London as well as undergraduate degrees in both Law and Medicinal and Biological Chemistry. He supports a number of high tech and science based startups and scaleups on IP matters and is currently working towards becoming a qualified Patent and Trade Mark Attorney

Ewa leads the Operations team, playing a crucial role in supporting and optimising IP processes. Her main responsibilities include managing IP documentation, filing applications with IP offices, and providing administrative support for the company’s daily operations. She focuses on streamlining operational processes, ensuring the smooth flow of information, and improving the efficiency of internal procedures. Her work is vital to the smooth functioning of the team and the support of IPR activities. Ewa holds a Master of Tourism degree from the University of Physical Education in Wroclaw.

Natalia currently works as Administrative Support/Paralegal, providing assistance with a variety of administrative tasks. Her responsibilities include supporting day-to-day office operations, managing documentation, and handling filings at various Intellectual Property Offices. She is a Journalism graduate from the University of Wrocław.

Ewelina is part of our inter-office Filing team and is responsible for making submissions to various Intellectual Property Offices.

Monika has extensive experience as a Financial Controller, specialising in optimising business processes. Her expertise has played a key role in enhancing company efficiency and establishing reliable reporting systems with clear cost allocation structures. Monika focuses on providing a comprehensive and transparent presentation of financial results while supporting the company's day-to-day operations. She holds a degree in Financial Management from the Wrocław University of Economics and Business.

Magda is a Polish and European Patent Attorney, specialising in intellectual property protection in the fields of life sciences, biochemistry, and bioengineering. She works with both domestic and European patents, handling processes related to obtaining and enforcing patent rights. With extensive scientific knowledge and experience in intellectual property, she supports clients in securing innovation and developing effective patent strategies. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Université Lyon 1 and the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology.

David is a senior European Patent Attorney (EPA) working on coordination of patent filings, prosecution and oppositions. David has extensive experience in commercially strategic aspects of IP in the areas of patent procurement and freedom to operate. David has built his career for 30 years at 3M UK, with focus on life sciences, drug delivery, and medical devices. David has a PhD in Surface Chemistry from the University of Bristol.

Göran is a European and Swedish patent attorney and the head of Basck Scandinavia. He has more than 30 years experience of helping companies with their patent portfolios, IP commercialisation and strategic development of innovation. Göran with Gipon Konsult AB joined Basck in May 2019. Göran previously worked as a Business Support Manager in Awapatent AB.

John is a European and Swedish Patent Attorney with over 20 years of experience in various IP roles. John has substantial experience in patenting software, control systems and user interface technologies. He prepares and prosecutes patent applications primarily in the telecom disciplines and computer science disciplines, as well as in mechanical disciplines. As a tutor John has extensive practice in training patent engineer staff, project team leaders and managers in patent matters and also has substantial experience in conducting workshops and project reviews for identifying inventions and for developing design around solutions.

Weronika works as an IP Paralegal, where she is responsible for verifying and filing documents with various Intellectual Property Offices, preparing reports for both Polish and international clients, and handling e-mail correspondence. She ensures the smooth flow of information within the company and oversees the internal procurement system. With her strong understanding of administrative procedures and excellent organisational skills, she effectively supports the team and helps ensure the efficient running of the office. She is a Law student at the University of Wrocław.

Elena is a senior European Patent Attorney (EPA) with extensive experience working on complex challenges associated with the areas of pharmaceuticals, drug re-profiling, repurposing or repositioning, new chemical entities (NCEs) and new medical uses. She also advises clients on freedom to operate, validity, competitor IP analysis and IP due diligence. Elena holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Imperial College London.

Jae Lee is Of Counsel and a US Patent Attorney with experience across semiconductors, photonics, quantum computing, nanotechnology, and patent prosecution. He provides strategic insights and tailored IP guidance, helping clients position their innovations for maximum success and long-term value. Before entering private practice, Jae spent over 18 years as an examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office - an experience that remains one of the defining strengths of his IP career. His deep technical foundation includes a B.S. and M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida, followed by a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Richard is a UK, New Zealand and Australian qualified Patent Attorney. Richard works on projects involving IP Landscaping, Portfolio management and IP strategising. Richard has expertise in technical patent drafting, analysis and project involving in depth technical knowledge. Before joining Basck Richard worked as a patent attorney in UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Divya is an Intellectual Property Lawyer at the Basck offices in UK. Divya works on projects related to IP Legal matters, portfolio management, IP due diligence, trademarks, designs and patents. Divya has graduated as a lawyer and further holds a degree in Master of Law in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London. Prior to joining Basck Divya has worked in law firms focused on commercial contracts, agreements, corporate law and legal due diligence. Divya aims to pursue her further qualifications to become a UK qualified Trademark Attorney.

Praj is a business-oriented European Patent Attorney with over 12 years of experience in multifaceted IP roles. He has worked extensively in both private practice and the industry. He has worked in close collaboration with various inventors, business executives, and IP professionals in multiple jurisdictions, most notably in the UK, Europe, US and India. He has unique global perspective on both legal and commercial aspects of IP. Praj is proficient in patent drafting and prosecution, patent analytics, IP strategy, and portfolio management. His technical expertise is in Electronics and ICT and takes special interest in cleantech and green innovations, being an avid environmental enthusiast.

Monika is a Polish Patent and Trade Mark Attorney Trainee specialising in IP advisory, IP portfolio management, and the enforcement of exclusive rights. She provides valuable support to Scandinavian clients in protecting their intellectual property. Additionally, Monika manages the company’s social media, ensuring consistent and effective communication. Before joining Basck, she gained experience in the legal departments of international companies. She holds a Master’s degree in Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Social Communication from the University of Wrocław.

Bianca is a passionate advocate and dedicated corporate counsel with deep experience across global IP, technology, and innovation. She has built patent practices for Global 500 brands, advised on M&A involving intellectual assets, designed legal process outsourcing solutions, and was part of a leading international IP law firm. Bianca began her career in a neuroscience discovery lab before joining the University of Oxford’s Technology Transfer Office. She has since worked across the patent ecosystem - leading an offshore LPO IP team, designing patent analytics services for CPA Global, supporting IP-related M&A at Thomson Reuters, to her time at Marks & Clerk LLP. Before building an award-winning patent practice at Starbucks, she served as Associate Vice President of Patents at L Brands (parent of Victoria’s Secret, Pink, and Bath & Body Works). Bianca’s approach is rooted in science, strategy, and commercial impact. Bianca's practice spans portfolio development, litigation management, negotiation and settlement strategy, creative anti-patent troll defences, and trade secret programs. A member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents, Bianca secured the first USDA Plant Variety Protection for coffee seeds by a U.S. company and was named among the WIPR Diversity & Inclusion Top 100 (2025).

Natalia is a Polish Patent and Trade Mark Attorney Trainee and PhD student at the University of Wrocław. Based in the Wrocław office, she focuses on projects related to trademarks, industrial designs, and IP portfolio management, while also addressing IP infringement issues. She specialises in contentious matters and negotiations between parties. Before joining Basck, she gained valuable experience working in law firms and public offices in both Poland and Italy. Natalia holds a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Wrocław and a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Multi-Level Governance from the University of Padova.

James works as a Paralegal/IP Consultant, providing support in patent prosecution and assisting clients throughout the process of obtaining and protecting intellectual property rights. His responsibilities include helping with the analysis and preparation of patent documentation, handling correspondence with patent offices, and supporting invention protection strategies. He is also involved in automation initiatives, IT systems support, and contributes to the Basck sales campaign. James assists with client and project management for IP Advance clients. He holds a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Leeds.

Natalia is preparing for the European Qualification Examination (EQE), which verifies the required expertise to represent clients in proceedings before the European Patent Office. She worked for several years as an intellectual property protection specialist at one of the leading marketplace platforms, where she gained experience in the area of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, particularly in combating the circulation of counterfeit goods. She specialises in patent-related issues, including invention protection strategies and patent litigation support. Natalia holds an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the Poznań University of Life Sciences and is a graduate of the IP Law program at the University of Warsaw.

Martyna is a Trainee PL Patent Attorney with technical background and a specialist IP consultant in Poland. Martyna has over 6 years of experience in the industry, primarily in aerospace manufacturing. Prior to joining Basck, she was a Quotation Engineer at a big multinational. She holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Poznan University of Technology.

Dominika is currently working as a UK Trainee Patent Attorney, specialising in patent prosecution and supporting clients in the life sciences, biotech, and med tech industries. Her work involves analysing inventions for patentability, preparing and filing patent applications, and corresponding with patent offices. She is a Biochemistry graduate from the University of Oxford.

Julia is an advocate trainee at the Regional Bar Council in Wrocław. She specialises in trade marks, IP portfolio management, brand protection strategies, as well as copyright assignment and licensing agreements. She has gained professional experience at both Polish and international law firms, handling matters related to intellectual property, civil law, and commercial law. She holds a Master of Law degree from the University of Wrocław. During her studies, she completed a six-month academic exchange at the University of Milan.

Richelle is an Intellectual Property Associate and lawyer at Basck and holds a Masters in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London. Richelle supports a number of clients on IP matters with paralegal, prosecution and portfolio management. She is working towards qualifying as a Trade Mark Attorney in the UK.

Kasia is a Polish Patent Attorney and EUIPO Professional Representative operating in Wroclaw, Poland. Kasia works on projects related to trade marks, designs, as well as oppositions and negotiations. She conducts IP audits and advises clients on strategies for obtaining IP protection and sustainable inventions. Kasia is the manager of Wroclaw office and coordinates work at Basck Scandinavia. Prior to joining Basck, Kasia worked as a legal communication specialist at Credit Suisse and in court & enforcement proceedings at Noble Bank S.A. Kasia holds a Master in Laws from the University of Wrocław.

Paulina Zarycka is a Polish Patent Attorney and an EUIPO Professional Representative with expertise in trade mark oppositions and invalidation proceedings, trade mark and design filings, IP clearance searches, coexistence agreements, and patent validations in Poland. She has contributed significantly to successful trade mark coexistence agreements between Polish SMEs and major European companies. She helps clients identify which inventions, names, or designs may require protection and align their IP strategy with future plans, emphasising practical and cost-effective guidance. Paulina holds a Master of Law degree from the University of Wrocław and a Bachelor’s in Romance Philology from the University of Warsaw.

Ada currently works as an Administrative Support/Paralegal, where she is responsible for a wide range of administrative duties. Her core responsibilities include managing records and filings with various Intellectual Property Offices, providing administrative support for day-to-day office operations, and assisting with the company’s social media activities. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Management from the Wrocław University of Economics and Business.
